Absence from School - First Day Absence Response

Castle Park Primary School, in line with other Monmouthshire schools, are operating a 'First Day Absence Response' system.  This will involve the school administrators contacting the parent(s) of any pupil not in school if we have not received a message explaining the pupils absence by 9.30am.  This system has been introduced by our Education Welfare Service to ensure the safety of all pupils.  Persistent, unexplained absences will be reported to the Education Welfare Officer.

Holidays During Term Time
Holidays during term time are not encouraged. Where parents have no choice but to take children out during term time, a maximum of 10 days is allowed. Any time over this amount will be unauthorised. A holiday form must be completed by the parent. These are available from the school office administrator or may be downloaded below.

Late Arrival at School
Persistent late arrival is unacceptable. It causes severe disruption to the day to day organisation of the school. Late arrivals must report to the main reception and sign the late book. Persistent late arrival will result in a referral to the Education Welfare Officer.

Leaving School Early
Sometimes parents ask for their children to be released from school early. We are always happy to co-operate with such requests. Children should be collected from the main entrance area and they should be ‘signed out’ for safety reasons.
