Starting Primary School
Starting Primary School is one of the most important events in a child’s life. We understand the anxieties and nerves of parents sending their children to school for the first time and will always try to ensure we answer all your questions and give you full details of our settling in program. You are welcome to visit our school and meet our staff during term-time. Please telephone us if you would like more information about joining our school or would like to visit.
Our admissions are arranged by Monmouthshire County Council. For more information or to complete an admission form visit their web site (link below).
Transferring Between Schools
If you decide to move your child/children between schools during the academic year you will need to contact Monmouthshire County Council to complete the admission process. Visit their web site (link below) for more details.
If you are choosing a new school we would love you to come and visit us and meet our staff. Please phone the school if you would like to arrange a visit.
Transition to Secondary School
The transition from any primary school to the secondary sector is a very important period in any child's life. The Caldicot cluster have a well established Transition Plan that we use to ensure that the transition is as smooth as possible.
· Our Year 6 pupils visit the secondary school to work alongside their secondary colleagues;
· Encouraging continuity in curriculum, teaching styles and classroom organisation;
· The staff of the secondary school visit our school to discuss pupil's progress and to teach lessons whilst the pupils are still in their Primary setting.
